April this year the New York band Yeah Yeah Yeahs published their new album called "Mosquito". The band revealed that this album is record full of lo-fi in recent years. The lead singer Karen O said in an interview, "Emotionally, this is an album giving you a feeling of riding a rolling coaster which returns to lo-fi."
Yeah Yeah Yeahs has already released three studio albums, respectively, "Fever To Tell" in 2003, "Show Your Bone" in 2006 and "It's Blitz".
However, more and more fans feel stranger to this ugly album covers while everyone is overjoyed for the new album after four years. So band's taste has been disputed, even their album quality is suspected.
Some people guess, "This must be the worst album cover in the history!" Another said, "I didn’t expect it is true rather than a joke of band."
Leaving side the album covers, the work of Yeah Yeah Yeahs should be fun. More vigorous, more chaotic, more fantastic…and more sources of reggae and psychedelic elements can be found. Same as "It's Blitz!" in 2009, "Mosquito" is made by Nick Launay and Dave Sitek with James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and rapper Kool Keit as the guess star. After listening to this album, it's not hard to find that it uses bass far more than the album before as well as guitar.
